Spring and Summer Lessons May-15-2013

Every spring and summer we introduce our “Meet the Instrument” sessions.

In spring they are 6 consecutive lessons in summer the 6 lessons are spread over the 9 weeks of summer scheduled in a way that suits you best!

Also this summer we will be having a band program entitled “It might Get Loud” not a ‘rock band’ program but more of a popular music ensemble.

We are also introducing a summer choir and a song writing session so stay tuned for that.

Acoustic and Electric Guitar Lessons

Call 204-487-3664 for the most comprehesive guitar lessons in Winnipeg (for bass lessons click here)

Our private guitar lessons include acoustic and electric guitar. We have an excellent guitar teaching staff and teach guitar lessons in everything from rock to jazz, classical to pop, Spanish to chording. Many of our teachers actively perform in bands. Our guitar teachers have college or university music degrees so they know the proper theory and technique no matter if a student is interested in metal or in classical. Guitar lessons at our schools are enhanced by the opportunity to perform  in one of our recitals or get recorded onto our student CD. No matter what type of guitar lessons you are interested in, we have the teachers to help you. Typically a student would be 7 before starting guitar lessons, due to their hand size, but some younger students start with a junior sized guitar.

You can start on acoustic or electric; the notes are in the same place and we have seen no difference in the ability of students to learn and progress at music on either.

Our guitar students start off by learning the basics like how to hold the guitar, the parts of the guitar, how to hold the pick, when to use a strap and how to read music. Later on the guitar student learns chords and simple songs using both chord and note reading.

Further in their music studies the guitar classes include:

  • Popular songs
  • Scales for use in lead guitar playing
  • Finger style and hybrid styles of right hand technique

and is exposed to other kinds of music like:

  • Rock
  • Blues
  • Jazz
  • Classical

If you have already been playing the guitar for a while we will access where you are now and teach you from that point.

For our advanced guitar students we have teachers who can prepare them for university music program entrance and we have mature teachers so adult students can feel comfortable.

Adult students also have more flexibility in what areas they cover first.
