The drum students at the River Heights School of Music learn the basics of setting up their drum sets for maximum playability, how to hold the sticks, how to strike the drums and cymbals correctly and music fundementals like how to read music and standard song forms. In their music classes they learn how to play the snare drum using rudiments such as para-diddles, flams and double stroke rolls so from there they can use those techniques to play the other parts of the drum set.
Integrating the cymbals and the bass drum the music student then can learn the most common drum set patterns used in music.
